Terms of Service
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Who these terms are for
These terms cover Covin Local, the free agent guard that runs on your own computer, and Covin cloud accounts at app.covin.dev. By installing Covin Local or signing in to an account, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Covin.
Enterprise customers use Covin under a separate written agreement. Where that agreement and these terms differ, the written agreement wins.
Your account
One account per person. You sign in with GitHub or with a link we email you, so keep that email account and your GitHub account secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
You are responsible for what happens in your account, including the devices you connect to it. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- abuse sign-in emails, for example by requesting links for addresses that aren’t yours;
- reverse-engineer, probe or overload the service in order to attack it or get around its limits;
- upload data you don’t have the right to share with us;
- use Covin’s decoys (bait) against anyone but yourself or an organization that has authorized you.
Your data
Your data stays yours. We process it only as described in the Privacy Policy, and keep it for the periods set out there.
The service
Covin is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. It may change, and it may sometimes be unavailable. Its findings show what happened, not why, and it will not catch everything, so don’t rely on it as your only safeguard.
Covin Local and free accounts come with no service-level agreement. Uptime and support commitments, where they exist, are in an Enterprise written agreement.
Your AI agents are your responsibility
Covin is a monitoring and guard tool. It watches what your AI agents do, alerts you, and can stop some actions based on its checks and the rules you set. It does not control your agents, and it does not guarantee that they will stay within the job you gave them.
You are solely responsible for the AI agents you run: the access, permissions and credentials you give them, the instructions you give them, and everything they do. That includes actions Covin did not detect, did not stop or allowed, and anything that happens while Covin is turned off, misconfigured, out of date, disconnected, uninstalled or unavailable.
Covin is not responsible for any loss, damage, cost, data loss or data exposure caused by your agents’ actions, whether or not Covin detected, flagged or stopped them. Covin is also not responsible for the effects of an action it stopped (for example an interrupted task), or of decisions you make based on its alerts, findings or suggested rules.
Keep your own safeguards in place, such as least-privilege access, backups, code review and human approval for sensitive actions. Your use of AI agents and model providers is subject to their own terms.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Covin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of Covin or from the actions of AI agents you run, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the most the law allows.
Ending things
You can stop using Covin at any time: uninstall Covin Local with covin uninstall and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Changes
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. For material changes, we will also email account holders.
